HAND-MADE ALPACA GIFTS

The business was founded by Amanda Ruiz, when she met her husband, a Peruvian living and working in London. Following the birth of their first child, Felix, she received a plethora of beautifully-crafted, hand-made alpaca gifts from Peruvian friends and relatives. She wanted to bring this fibre to the UK and set about combining her own designs with the traditions of Peru.

NATURAL MATERIALS

At Peruvian Knitwear, each piece is ethically produced, using natural materials and the traditional skills employed by traditional craftsmen, who are paid fairly for their work. Alpaca yarn is stronger than mohair, rarer than cashmere, smoother than silk, warmer than goose down, and breathes better than thermal knits. Alpaca is also naturally hypoallergenic (as it doesn't contain lanolin), very soft and extremely warm, producing garments that are lightweight and velvety smooth with a wonderful lustre. Another major benefit of alpaca is that is doesn't bobble or pill, and after years of use your garment will be in the same condition as when you bought it.

Peruvian Knitwear has a broad range of alpaca clothing ranging from cardigans, tank tops, waistcoats and jackets to hats, scarves, men's sweaters, children's clothing and the best selling sleeved poncho, all available in a wide choice of colours. There are even alpaca cushions to add to your living room and everything comes beautifully gift wrapped in tissue paper and satin ribbon free of charge.
