The Parish Register

This charming award winning web site offers something highly selective in a helpful and straightforward way, The Parish Register contains the parish registers of several of the great churches in the East End of London and has a database of some 40,000 baptism entries.



This excellent web site offers great guidelines as to how to search its database and as you might expect from an area surrounded by the London Docks and the River Thames carries records of many people from overseas.



The site has a shop, an interesting description of the watermen and lightermen who worked on the Thames, maps and a message board.



Searching is free but to view all the matches for your search there is a modest charge. A donation from this is made to restoration work at St Peter's church. The Parish Register now offer a quarterly newsletter to subscribers.
