The Browser
The tagline of The Browser is ‘writing worth reading.' The website is a curatorial space which seeks to replace the mathematical search engine with a human one. It selects ‘features, opinion and analysis articles from around the web' that it believes will be interesting to ‘the intellectually curious reader.'
WHO'S BEHIND IT
The Browser was set up by Robert Cottrell and Al Breach and originally began life as two separate blogs. In 2010 these merged to become the site we see today. The CEO of The Broswer is Henry Lane Fox, find him on Twitter @henrylf.
WHAT YOU CAN BROWSE
The material is selected publications such as the TLS, Vanity Fair, New Statesman, as well as from established bloggers and websites. It is then organised into channels such as politics, Arts & Entertainment and Society. There is much here to detain even the most casual of readers, but one or two sections stand out. Best of the Moment offers a selection of the most current articles on the site, while FiveBooks features interviews with the great and the good. The interviewee, an authority in their field, is quizzed on their area of expertise and invited to recommend five books to read.
