The BBC's website is one of the finest and most trusted on the internet. We all bluster from time to time about licence fees and the dominance of celebrity-based content but the BBC is a cup of tea and a packet of chocolate biscuits on a rainy afternoon.

It is difficult to know where to start when reviewing the news section of the site: there is just so much on offer. First off, make your choice between the Graphics and Low Graphics versions. The latter has a much faster download time. Then choose between the UK and international versions of the site.

On the left of the screen you'll find various categories such as technology, politics and business. News is also divided up by location. You can watch or listen to BBC News and watch one minute summaries of what's going on around the world from BBC News 24. The quality of audio-visual content has greatly improved since the launch of BBC iPlayer.

One of the most popular features of the site is Have Your Say, a lively debating forum. Discussions can be on anything from climate change to cosmetic surgery.

BBC Sport coverage is extensive. No other site on the internet brings the user such high quality content on such a wide range of sports. Live text commentary on various sporting occasions has become something of an event, with users adding opinions and jokes to the journalist's comments on the action. A completely unrelated question might spark intense momentary discussion until someone remembers there's a match on. Very often this is more enjoyable than following the actual sporting event itself.
