Now that it's easy to access the internet on a mobile phone it's good to know what is specifically on offer for surfing the web in this way. BBC Mobile provides users with sport, local weather forecasts, UK, World, Business and Politics news, radio listings, video clips, entertainment stories, lottery results and traffic updates. If you use a PDA you can access BBC News, Sport and h2g2, the online encyclopedia project created by Douglas Adams in 1999.

Type www.bbc.co.uk/mobile into your mobile's internet browser or if you are in the UK simply text BBC to 81010. You will receive a message from the BBC within five minutes, containing a link which will allow you to connect to the website. Bookmark the page and that's it!

There's no charge from the BBC for accessing the content, although your mobile phone operator will charge you either for browsing time or for the data you download.
