Public Record Office - Victoria's Archives

The Public Records Office of Victoria is committed to putting many of its records online. From the homepage click on Access to the Collection and then online resources for a straighforward database listing immigrants arriving at the Australian port of Victoria in 1852 - 1923, from British and foreign ports. For a Probate and other online databases follow the link to Archives@Victoria. Further records are being added and indexed all the time.

The more information you give, the more likely you are to find the relevant match, but too much detail can also work against you, as the lists contain many entries without a forename, with passengers listed simply as Mr, Mrs or Infant, so do try all possible combinations. The homepage explains how to fill in the search boxes. A successful search will lead to a fiche number and page number, which can then be ordered.
