World Aids Day
World Aids Day takes place on 1st December 2009 with the theme, HIV: Reality. The official UK website aims to spark discussion about HIV through innovative technology and user-generated content. This year's theme uses real people and real situations to present true accounts of how HIV affects people living in the UK, as well as dispelling myths, misinformation and confusion.
The site is designed to get people talking to break down the silence that surrounds HIV. Check out Your Say to find out more. There are clips from people talking about living with HIV in the UK, which have been submitted through a dedicated YouTube channel.
The World Aids Day site also gives information on events being held across the UK and how to get involved in the campaign. Donations can also be made online and you can find out where to buy your Red Ribbon.
There are 40 million people living with HIV worldwide and more than 80000 of those live in the UK.
