The Autism Trust

The Autism Trust was set up by Polly Tommey in 2006, after her son Billy was diagnosed with a severe form of the condition. The charity exists to offer resources to and provide much needed support for people with autism who have left supported education.

RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM

A short film introduces the difficulties parents face as children with autism reach adulthood. Polly Tommey's message, as well as the Who We Are and The Need sections provide all the necessary background that potential supporters of the charity will require.

SOLVING THE PROBLEM

A section entitled The Solution outlines the plan to build Centres of Excellence which aim 'to provide inspirational and sustainable new environments to support children with autism from diagnosis on into adulthood enabling each to fulfil their potential in life.'

This is an extraordinarily ambitious project which needs widespread publicity to help generate the funds required to realise it. Polly Tommey was criticised for her recreation of the famous Eva Herzigová Wonderbra advert, but her attempt to grab the attention of the leaders of the three main political parties before the general election worked. Brown, Cameron and Clegg all got in touch.
