RoadPeace
RoadPeace is an independent national charity for road crash victims. It was established in 1993. It is a member of the European Federation of Road Traffic Victims. The former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone is among the charity's patrons.
THE STATISTICS
According to the RoadPeace website six people die on the roads every day in the UK. In the world as a whole the figure is 3900. The charity says that 1 in 75 of us will be 'bereaved through a road crash.' If these chilling statistics do not focus attention on the work of RoadPeace nothing will.
WHAT THE CHARITY DOES
RoadPeace runs a national helpline for road crash victims. The number is: 0845 4500 355. The charity also campaigns to make roads safer and for justice for victims. It supports organisations that promote cycling, walking and sustainable transport and organises several public remembrance events each year.
