TalkInCompany
TalkInCompany organises professional, informative and relaxed lunchtime events with a philanthropic edge. It creates events for any group of people, the public, customers or staff and aims to entertain, provoke and inspire so that businesses, groups and individuals can attract, reward or retain business, whilst learning about and giving to charity.
THE IDEA
The idea was dreamt up by a group of charity-giving ex-city professionals, who, applying the same cut and thrust as they did in their working careers, decided that it was about time that giving to or volunteering for a charity took on a more organised and efficient approach.
THE RESULT
The result of their endeavors is TalkInCompany, which organises monthly charity giving events or ‘philanthropy days' at which high profile speakers are invited to come and talk about a given subject, based around their own experiences. All funds raised during the event are given to the speaker's charity of choice. Meanwhile, members are able to gain an insight into a variety of charities and subjects and enjoy an entertaining occasion with social and networking opportunities at the same time.
THE SPEAKERS
Previous speakers at the events have included Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones (The Black Farmer), Ann Widdecombe, Victoria Mather and Nicola Horlick to name a few, each of whom have introduced members to their charity of choice. Recently (June 2008) and most topically perhaps, the first-theme based subject, Giving in Hard Times, was raised, with FT columnist Mrs Moneypenny as the guest speaker. This covered questions such as how to give money effectively, how to make the most of your donation and how to choose the right cause.
THE WEBSITE
TalkInCompany.com gives details of all previous and upcoming events and provides links to articles that have appeared in the press. Companies interested in sponsoring an event, speakers interested in contributing or restaurants that would like to host an event are encouraged to get in touch.
