mySociety

mySociety was set up in 2003 by Tom Steinberg, a former policy analyst at the Prime Minister's Strategic Unit. It aims to give people the tools to use the internet to improve their lives and builds websites that encourage community and civic action. mySociety is responsible for websites such as www.pledgebank.com, www.theyworkforyou.com and www.writetothem.com and is not aligned to any political party.

Log on to the site to find out about the projects mySociety has already launched and browse their open source code. The Developer's Blog is updated daily and will keep you up to date with what mySociety is up to. And why not go into the chat room and offer your ideas to the team? They are always looking forward to people who want to get involved.

The site is very friendly and we think this is just the kind of thing it would be good to see more of the internet. The people behind mySociety clearly want to use the internet to make a difference to people's lives in some way. It is good to see a website reminding us that we are not just atomised units of production.
