The iii general insurance division acts is powered by Insurancewide, covering the following areas of risk:

• Motor: Car, classic/ vintage/performance/sports, taxi/van/commercial; breakdown
• Home: Buildings & contents; landlord
• Travel: Single/multi-trip, backpacker, business, gap year
• Pet: Cat, dog, rabbit, bird, horse.

The iii service is perfectly adequate for the areas of cover as listed above. However, it lacks Private Medical Insurance and business insurance sections, and does not cover some of the more specialised and peripheral areas of insurance found on Insurancewide.

The search engines are conspicuously located in the Insurance section of the site and are easy to use. However, the Insurancewide "wizard" is cumbersome compared with the "one-search" engines on Moneysupermarket and The Idol, particularly noticeable when searching for motor and home insurance quotes.
