1st Quote is the online arm of insurance tele-broker 1st Quote Insurance of Romford, Essex, offering the following categories of cover:

• Motor: Car, motorcycle, quad bike, van (e-mail/tel), caravan (telephone), breakdown (car and bike by telephone).
• Home: Building and contents landlord.
• Pet: Cat and dog.
• Travel: Single/multi-trip; winter sports.

The search engine presents a single policy in each of the above categories, drawn from provider panels whose names appear during the comparison and collating process. I counted up to 16 providers although clearly not all are active in each category (e.g. KGM Motor Policies does not offer pet insurance!).

Online caravan and breakdown assurance quotes were not accessible at the time, due to "essential system maintenance". However, telephone quotes are available.

Navigation is very user-friendly. Data gathering is broken down and spread over several web pages (sometimes down to one question per page), making omissions less likely and corrections easier. Well, I liked it.
