MoneyNet

MoneyNet was launched in October 1997 and has acquired a reputation as an excellent data-only information site. It is distinguished by the absence of news, articles or guides of any description on site. It concentrates on providing hard data only, organised for easy access.



The site is unregulated, which means that you have to look elsewhere for advice. If you want guidance, you are directed to a specialist from a narrow circle of independent financial advisors.

The current panel of advisors comprises the Millfield Partnership, which handles conventional onshore enquiries; HIFAC PMI Ltd, which is a specialist in medical insurance: and Charlesworth International (Guernsey) for offshore financial planning.



An extensive navigation panel on the left-hand side of the screen directs you to the following information centres: mortgages, savings and deposits, life assurance, medical insurance, personal loans, credit cards, funds, the stock market, best buys, and MoneyNet offshore.

Most of the data displayed is obtained directly from the product providers. The exceptions are the funds and stock market data which is imported from MoneyeXtra and includes the portfolio tracker, power search tool and power graphics.

Mortgages The mortgage section covers conventional and impaired credit history loans (applicants with history of arrears and County Court Judgements), non-status (great for the newly self-employed), buy-to-let finance, commercial and offshore mortgages, with rate alerts by email.



You can search for variable, fixed, discounted and capped rate loans; flexible, cashback and base rate trackers. The search can embrace all lenders or can proceed by specified lender selected from a drop down menu.



Search results are displayed by lender, mortgage type and total cost over the specified period. You can click on Terms to read the product details and on View Costs to examine the setup and monthly costs. There is no facility for comparing particular mortgage offers from the table. Transactions are routed through CharcolOnline.
