The top index is split into Individuals & Employees, Employers and Businesses & Corporations. There is even a facility for access of the site in Welsh. The Individuals section gives clear advice on deadlines for filling in your return, advice on self-assessment, where to find your local tax office, business use of cars, FAQs and information about the brilliant IR helpline (free for simple questions your accountant would charge you for the answers to).

Featured Areas are located at the top of the page. These cover the bones of all tax issues, from self-assessment advice to corporation tax, National Insurance contributions, IR35 (rules concerning taxation of people in long-term freelance contracts which came in within the 1999 Budget). There is also access to publications, rates and allowances statistics and information about the IR.


Internet Service for PAYE and Self-Assessment enables tax payers and their agents to send SA100 tax returns to the Revenue over the internet via the Government Gateway, and to obtain software and online forms.
