The RAC
The RAC has the same idea as the AA; route planning, traffic information and hotel booking, and this can be found at the main site at www.rac.co.uk and here on their business site. With information on company fleet assistance for cars and commercial vehicles, insurance and a network of RAC consultants, however, it has stolen a march on its rival. There is also a link to the RAC signs site for information on signposting business events.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Check traffic is a free service to all, with the facility to check by area and sorted by severity, road name or county. It is European wide and can be updated at the click of a button, and the particular roadworks viewed.
Route Planner is also open to all, and the search is by town city name, or postcode. The instructions for use are long and complicated. The search is very slow and we failed to get a response to our simple hypothetical route query.
