The Natural Skincare Company celebrates its 8th anniversary

As The Natural Skincare Company celebrates its 8th birthday, we catch up with its founder, Amanda McGillivray to talk about the business.

The best moment of last year was... when we launched our very first catalogue in May. It was so exciting to see all our work and effort materialise in print.

The worst moment was... when we lost a lovely distributor for Nvey ECO makeup. At the same time, it changed all the formulations and we could not get hold of any stock! Luckily, it has appointed a new distributor and we are back on track with being able to supply our customers.

The biggest change to the business over the last year is that... we have been appointed the UK Distributor for the brand, geoskincare from New Zealand which is completely certified organic. This will enable us to offer our customers a salon standard skincare range which is completely organic (98%) and complements our other ranges brilliantly. This is definitely a range to look out for in the UK.

If I could thank anyone for their input over the last year... it would have to be my partner in business and husband, Adrian, for his encouragement, logistic help and patience with our business expansion plans. (Not to mention that he always seems to be the one making the tea!)

Our greatest achievement of the last year... has been the launch of our first catalogue, definitely. Its a great way for our customers to remember our products and they find it really useful as a reference before ordering online. In the digital age, it is easy to forget that many older people do not have access to the internet or don't like to use it, so print catalogues are very important to them.

The greatest challenges of the last year... have been related to the recession and the global economy, which have made it much more difficult to grow the business in the way that we would have liked. We have, hopefully, overcome this by offering our customers exceptional service and beauty advice, very quick delivery and frequent offers and promo codes. Our aim is to always go that extra mile, be accessible and friendly at all times. This year has been one of consolidation so that when times improve we are ready.

Over the coming year... we want to concentrate on the ranges we stock. We also working on our next catalogue. In addition, we are hoping to make geoskincare a national success and are working with retailers and wholesalers to get this gorgeous range out there. We will still stay true to our original principles in that we test and test and research everything we sell, which really does take out the leg work for our customers.
