VegSource

‘Saving the Earth one byte at a time' use to be the motto of this campaigning online magazine for committed vegetarians, unfortunately it is now the less catchy "Friendly support 25 hours a day, 8 days a week for your healthy vegetarian lifestyle". The site is still particularly good for nutritional information and research on the relationship between meat intake and disease, however. The homepage is a little confusing because there is so much to see - but that's not necessarily a bad thing, at least its illustrative of the wealth of information, articles, links and testimony that can be found here.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Discussion Boards These are extraordinarily diverse, the key being that rather than discussing vegetarianism, these are for vegetarians discussing subjects of interest to them. There is a clubby but educated atmosphere, and several boards are hosted by well-known US experts, such as the highly esteemed Dr Joyce Verdal on keeping fit. FAQ includes queries about cancer, what every vegetarian needs to know, and info about Veg Source.

Recipes The site has its own expert, Chef Deb, to devise menus and dishes for them, and these are highlighted in the semi-regular newsletters. There are several themed options (Veg Starter Kit, Four Food Groups, Healthy Effective Weight Loss) plus a directory of 10,000 recipes on the site - this has doubled in the last six months and will undoubtedly continue to grow.
