G.I. Diet

The G.I. Diet is one of the most popular diets of all time as it really offers an easy and healthy route to permanent weight loss. Developed by Rick Gallop, who had fought with his weight over a number or years until he stumbled upon the Glycemic Index. He found that he held the key to permanent weight loss.

OVERVIEW

The G.I. Diet site is a detailed guide, providing a general overview of the diet. The Glycemic Index measures the speed at which foods are broken down by the body to form glucose. High GI foods break down quickly and leave you wanting more. Low GI foods take longer to breakdown and therefore leave you feeling fuller for longer. Low GI foods make up the majority of the diet and you need never go hungry.

The G.I. Diet lists foods in three colours.

Red foods are the ones to avoid if you want to lose weight.
Yellow foods can be eaten occasionally.
Green foods can be eaten as much as you like.

BOOKS

You can buy the various G.I. Diet books online as well as read what the professionals say about the diet. There are some sample recipes as well as a regulalry updated list of foods with their colour coding. Fellow dieters can email with their experiences and tips too.
