SENSIBLE ADVICE

The Nordic Diet's starting point is sourcing local produce and eating seasonally, whilst balancing your intake of protein, carbohydrate and fat. Home cooking is essential allowing you to keep track of both traceability and the ingredients.  The diet isn't necessarily about losing weight but more about achieving that healthy way of living that puts a spring in your step. By adopting all the Nordic Diet's principles, weight will probably reduce but at a sensible rate, whilst keeping blood sugar levels balanced. By using the following principles, you'll soon be on your way:-

- Balanced meals using wholegrains, root and green vegetables.
- Home cooking - try making your own bread.
- Eat less - using a smaller plate can really work wonders.
- Eat fish at least twice a week.
- Eat vegetarian meals twice a week. Between 30 - 50% of your daily intake should be vegetables.
- Eat game, chicken or meat only three times a week.
- Use meal times to catch up with family and friends.

If you need to snack between meals, don't reach for a packet of biscuits or crisps, eat fresh or dried fruit, raw vegetables and nuts. By following these principles, you can still treat yourself to a slice of cake, home prepared of course or some quality chocolate.
