Howopia

Set up in 2010, Howopia is a useful new site, providing how-to guides written for the people, by the people. Anyone with any specialist knowledge and an ability to write can apply to become a writer for Howopia - potentially a great place for new writers to cut their teeth (and earn a bit of cash). By applying good editorial and publishing practices, Howopia's aim is to build up a pool of quality contributors willing to share their expertise and knowledge with the site's users.

Howopia is still in its infancy, but at time of writing already has 805 great how-to guides on the site. As part of a growing community of websites harnessing people power, it would certainly be worth keeping an eye on this site as it grows. Already, Howopia tackles such diverse subjects as ‘how to hide a hangover', ‘how to make a frosted coffee cake', ‘how to deal with unemployment' and ‘how to be chivalrous'.
