Geoloqi
Geoloqi is an open source project which describes itself as 'a private, real-time mobile and web platform for securely sharing location data, with features such as Geonotes, proximal notification, and sharing real-time GPS maps with friends.' Translating from techno-jargon, this means Geoloqi combines mapping and text messaging technologies to let you share your location and send messages to yourself and to others.
A BIT OF BACKGROUND
Geoloqi was launched in January 2011. It's the work of Amber Case, who calls herself a cyborg anthropologist, and iPhone and PHP developer Aaron Parecki.
HOW IT WORKS
As Geoloqi puts it, you can 'leave yourself a note which you'll get next time you're at the grocery store.' You do this by leaving the note on the shop in question on Google Maps. When you next walk through the door of said food and drink emporium you will receive this note as a text message.
Geoloqi also allows you to leave such 'geonotes' for other people and to share your location with people you have arranged to meet.
