The Blog of the Month for January 2007 is the blog of Michael Bérubé, the Pennsylvanian State University Professor of Literature and expert on cultural studies. This personal blog was the recent winner of the Best Educational Blog Award at the recent 2006 Blog awards and it is indeed a worthy winner. Michael posts regularly and intellectually on a wide range of topics that are both provoking and stimulating. Frequent topics of discussion reflect his academic pursuits, notably American Literature, critical theory and Liberalism. He also has a particular interest in disability studies, which stems at least partly from his personal experience with his son Jamie who has Down's Syndrome.

Bérubé's site is not aesthetically astonishing, it is simply designed and content based. There are some pictures of his family and a little information on his love of ice hockey, but unsurprisingly it is his writing that is the real focus here. This is no bad thing though as the professor writes humorously and lightly as well as eruditely, meaning that though educational, the blog is not dull or overly dense. A winner for those interested in finding a more intellectual blog to keep up to date with.
