StyleJunkee picks this summer's top style trends

A one-stop style haven for the sophisticated and the glamorous, StyleJunkee knows what's hot and what's not, from the must-have styles of the season and hottest beauty products about to the most stylish home furnishing accessories, and fashion crazes. Here are its top five spring/summer fashion trends for 2010.

1) Double denim

Yup, it's back to 80s influences again and top-to-toe denim is where it's at this season. Everyone from celebrities to fashion designers to footballers is testing out the trend, but if you're thinking of hopping on the double-denim bandwagon, watch out; it's not the easiest to master. Whatever you do, don't wear cowboy boots with double denim and go for a mix and match of textures and contrasting colours to bring the look totally up-to-date. Don't be afraid to pair a denim shirt or jacket with denim jeans, shorts or a skirt - a glimpse of a sheer camisole and a bracelet or vintage ring will add a touch of femininity. Team with this season's pretty pastel-coloured arm candy for the perfect finishing touch.

2) Flesh and putty tones

Think pink, muted flesh colours, chalky beige, transparent nude, and pale and peachy washes and you'll soon have this season's flesh and putty-tone trend knocked on the head. Marc Jacobs, Valentino, Givenchy, Celine, and Jonathan Saunders sent streams of the stuff down their spring/summer 2010 catwalks and we're loving the sheer girlieness of this oh-so-flattering fashion fix. If you're not up for a full nude-out, go for a sweet and subtle nod to the look by accessorising your slinkiest jeans with a sheer silk camisole and peachy-coloured cardi. Team with a flesh-coloured t-shirt bra, a pair of pretty pink ballerina pumps and the palest pink lippie you can find.

3) Luxe sportswear

This season sportswear takes on streetwear from the boardroom to the beach. Prada's spring/summer 2010 collection showcased crisp white shirts, boxy jackets and knee-length city shorts; Balenciaga's was inspired by motocross, with reinforced-knee leather biker trousers and hooded gilets; Louis Vuitton accessorised with bum-bags no less; while Bottega Veneta featured a multitude of white wimbledon-style hairbands. Whatever your take on sportswear, go deluxe; throwing in as much leather, lycra and mesh as you can muster.

4) Florals

Of course we can't very well herald the start of the spring/summer fashion season without paying homage to florals. And romantic blooms are popping up here, there and everywhere, so mix them into your wardrobe for an instantly sweet, feminine and flirty vibe. Choose monochrome or photographic washes, with prints and colours as shocking and bright as you dare; just make sure it's mother-nature inspired. What's not to love?

5) The LWD

Spring/summer getaways will be all the more perfect with this season's wardrobe essential; a little white dress. From crisp white sundresses to vintage-style frocks, the LWD is an innocent all-season player. Accessorised with black, it's the ultimate in chic as monochrome-loving Coco Chanel knew only too well. To bring the look bang up-to-date go for architectural and sculptural styles. This trend's all about the silhouette so make sure it's visionary.
