Ning Li, CEO of made.com
Ning Li is the ideas guy at Made.com. After spending a fortune on his first sofa, Ning questioned how the European middleman could get away with asking such outrageous prices. He thought there was a more affordable approach to buying furniture, whilst still maintaining design integrity. And the rest is history, MADE was born.
NING'S FAVOURITE SITES
Made.com - How could I not?! I truly believe that Made.com is at the forefront of 21st century interior design. Call it 'crowd-sourced furniture' design if you will. With a no-nonsense, clear-cut website that gives you furniture that YOU, the public, vote for. There is no middle man so prices are stripped bare. Why feel the guilt of purchasing a designer sofa when you can purchase one direct, at the price you want?
Wallpaper.com - What do I love about this website? It's smooth, innovative and well, when I browse the website, I like to think that people walk past my computer and think 'Now there is a real design boffin.' Making the best of internet technology from its stunning imagery through to its interior events diary and even an iPhone application, it's the height of interior sophistication.
Naked Wines - It's like looking in the mirror. The Made.com of wine. With a similar concept to MADE in that it encompasses the idea of prices stripped bare, it's the intricate details of this winemaking website such as 'Naked Me' which makes you chuckle to yourself (or may be it's just me) and want to explore further. Connecting consumers directly to winemakers with its comments section and a nifty little countdown clock till production, here is another website that believes in real prices.
MyDaily - A website jam-packed with everything your regular internet junkie could need to go through the obstacles of everyday life. The editors of MyDaily use a no-nonsense approach to introduce their viewers to health, fashion trends, issues concerning relationships and much more. I know of no other website that tackles fashion trends and cookery tips within the click of a mouse.
How To Spend It - This is my guilty pleasure. Fancy a bit of escapism from your hard-working day? Type in how to spend it, hit the enter button and you are transported. Within seconds, you are taken through an array of vibrant photography whilst you browse everything and ANYTHING luxury.
The Shortlist - The website that thrives on us boys and our toys, to hear all about the new products that are driving your friends crazy or the cool gadgets for the ultimate whizzkid, I recommend it.
