This is the personal website of Sheila Kitzinger, guru of pregnancy and childbirth, social anthropologist, midwifery lecturer and writer. It is an non-commercial venture focusing on Sheila Kitzinger's campaigning work, and it includes access to her publications via amazon.co.uk. Birth action addresses the rising Caesarean rates in the UK, looks at prosecutions of various midwives and offers support for them.



Mothers and babies in prison. Sheila is campaigning to provide a nationwide network of support through the use of doulas (a project begun in Holloway prison), but it is in the early planning stages.



Home Birth gives details of research papers and media coverage arguing the pros and cons of home birth, as well as contact details for a range of support organisations and home birth workshops.
