Parent Pages is an online directory of information, news and events for families sourced from local councils, voluntary and commercial sectors. There are 30,000 listings with more being added daily.
In order to search the database, you need to select your area, borough and category. You can't browse at random but you are sure to find something of interest. There are lots of categories covering many interests and topics from family days out, education, tutors, youth groups, shopping for children, childcare and fostering. These link through to relevant websites, which can be listed for free. This is for a one line mention. Parent Pages screen all the websites that are mentioned on their site.
Parent Pages has their own discussion forum for which you need to register.
The site also has a section for schools and teachers with information on professional associations, suppliers, lesson planning and employment.
The site has yet to reach its full potential as some searches within various categories yielded few results. As time progresses, this will improve but already, it is a useful resource for anyone who comes into contact with children, either as a parent or grandparent or on a professional basis.
