Beatbullying
Beatbullying is a UK registered charity dedicated to reducing the instances of bullying amongst young people, as well as dealing with the (sometimes catastrophic) knock-on effects. This website provides help, information and guidance for teachers, parents, schools and mentors to tackle bullying, and its repercussions, hoping that through education and awareness they can change attitudes and behaviour. To date, Beatbullying has worked with more than 1.6 million children and young people since its launch in 1999.
TRAINING CHILDREN TO HELP EACH OTHER
Beatbullying has created a series of successful anti-bullying programmes, working with young people themselves; offering therapy for the victim and the bully. One such programme is CyberMentors, where young people help each other online to overcome the effects of bullying. Beatbullying trains children in schools to become CyberMentors, giving them all the skills and support they need to take on the role. The scheme is proven to reduce bullying by up to 80% in the schools where it operates.
Of course, all of these schemes need money, and any donations are welcome. If this is a cause that interests you, or is relevant to you or someone you know, take the time to have a look at the website and read about all the wonderful research and work that is being done.
