The Goodlife Centre

Fast and friendly workshops in DIY, decorating, upholstery, furniture restoration in central London.

Are you fed up of relying on others to tackle jobs in your home and want to do it yourself but just don't know how? Alternatively, perhaps you want to broaden your horizons and learn a new skill. The Goodlife Centre can help with all this and more with its wide range of practical workshops from its light and airy workspace in London's Waterloo. From DIY and carpentry, to upholstery and interiors workshops, there is a course to suit everyone. After all, this is the new age of discovery and for many, after day upon day of working behind a screen, what could be better than getting your hands dirty and learning something new? Retail therapy is a thing of the past, hands-on practical therapy is the way forward.

HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS

These friendly hands-on workshops, that are open to men and women, let you learn new skills in small classes. There is no testing, you learn steadily by practising. Generally all students are in the same boat with little or no knowledge before attending such a class. Thus learning is made easier as you can encourage each other as you tackle new projects. The Centre provides all the hand and power tools so that you can practise on them as well as providing copious cups of tea to keep morale high!

Classes are kept very small so that each learner receives high quality teaching and support. There are classes all year round with new ones added regularly.

DIY

Get to grips with home maintenance with a fast track DIY in a Day workshop (£175). This practical day of discovery focuses on how to become proficient with a power drill, hang things onto walls, put up basic shelves, blinds and curtains. You will also receive an overview of basic plumbing including fixing leaky taps and replacing bath sealant. Basically all those annoying little jobs that are really too small to call someone in. It’s important to note that these are not trade training courses but sufficient to enable you to do basic jobs in the home.

CARPENTRY

Experience the peace that comes with learning a traditional skill such as carpentry. The Goodlife Centre offers a selection of basic woodwork and introductory carpentry workshops led by skilled tutors that share their passion for wood in a relaxing and inspiring manner. There are short one or two-day weekend workshops (£175 - £345), or longer six to 12 weeks evening workshops (£395 - £775), each designed to give the skills you need to build your hobby into a lifelong passion. Each course involves making something wonderful out of wood that you take home and keep.

UPHOLSTERY

Discover a wealth of upholstery workshops designed to introduce you to this wonderful and fulfilling pastime. Take a one-day introduction to upholstery workshop (£175) designed to offer you a taster of the basics, or a more in-depth weekend course (£345) that will allow you to upholster your very own footstool in a beautiful fabric of your choosing. If you already have a treasured piece that needs upholstering then take it along to the Bring a Chair 12-Week project based course (£595) and to use the tools and facilities at The Goodlife Centre and get professional guidance on how to re-upholster your pride and joy.

INTERIORS & SOFT FURNISHINGS

If you want to hone your skills in home decor, then you will find a wealth of high quality one to two-day interiors workshops, from traditional lampshade making, sewing curtains, blinds and beautiful cushions to making rag-rugs and linen tassels. In fact you will discover numerous, high-quality courses led by professional crafters that take place conveniently at weekends.

GIFT VOUCHERS

Give a friend a gift that really counts, a new skill. Choose either a specific workshop or simply purchase a gift voucher available in varying price points which they can redeem on a suitable course.

The Goodlife Centre can also organise private classes and workshops for corporate and private clients, great for team building, hen parties and children's celebrations.
