The Geffrye Museum

If you are interested in the history of the English domestic interior, this museum should most definitely be on your list of places to visit. Set in a row of Grade II Listed, Eighteenth Century almshouses in London's Shoreditch, it comprises a chronologically arranged series of rooms covering the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries. Look at the Events and Activities Calendar to learn about conferences, lectures, workshopsfor adults and children, and the special exhibitions they hold in their stunning modern extension. For the green-fingred, the gardens are also laid out in historically correct plots. Friends of the museum can enjoy private collections - all for a minimum donation of £10.
