This uber-urban style magazine deserves a lot of kudos for its ambitious and sophisticated website which was launched in April 2000. It has used the opportunities that the internet offers to create an innovative, stylish taster of their paper version, and if it's not the 'unforgettable journey' that the introduction voice-over promises, then it is at least an interesting one. The homepage offers a tempting introduction to the features in this month's issue in a pop-up window. Run the cursor over the grid on the lower left and the contents of each section appear. From elsewhere in the site, click on the arrow on the lower right of the page to return to the grid menu. Navigation takes a little while to get used to, but once you do, this site provides a wonderful overview of all things modern.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Click on Wallpaper House at the bottom of the page to view a building conceived by the magazine's editorial director, Tyler Brulé, and architect Thomas Sandall. Click on the plans and then on different areas of the floorplan to view different areas of the house.

Entertaining - Dish of the Week provides smart, easy recipes to fuel your journey through the urban jungle. Our Sommelier Says gives advice on wine. Group Dynamics is an entertaining way to spend a few minutes. Their dinner party seating planner allows you to select a table and then drag and drop anything up to 16 chairs around it. Seat your guests and put their initials on each chair before printing it out.

Archive - If you've missed an issue or simply want to browse, click on your chosen month and the sections will appear in a strip at the bottom of the page. In theory, you can now click to enter, but on the occasions we tried this, the site seemed to be having teething troubles. This was frustrating as the site leaves you longing for more.
