Inchbald School of Design

The Inchbald School of Design is well known throughout the world for its interior design and garden design courses. It was founded in 1960 by Jacqueline Duncan, when interior design was only just emerging as a recognised profession.

The School runs a number of courses covering the whole spectrum, from the 10-week Certificate in Interior Decoration to Master of Arts and Postgraduate courses. The courses are highly structured with a heavy workload, covering subjects ranging from colour theory to business management. Housed in two buildings near Sloane Square, the School has an extensive library with over 3,000 books on garden design, along with slides and photographs.

The School offers a number of introductory courses, some of which are held on Saturdays. These cover subjects as diverse as computer aided design with an Introduction to Vectorworks, What is Planting Design? and Business Practice for Garden Designers.
