Tinsmiths
Nestled in the heart of the historic town of Ledbury is Tinsmiths, a paradise of good design. Run by husband and wife team, the Clives, and filled with beautiful fabrics, lighting, artwork and more, if you are ever visiting Ledbury, this is an absolute must.
However, in the meantime, you can make do with their (equally lovely) website.
THE LEDBURY SHOWROOM
The showroom building rests on the site of the town's tinsmiths (hence the name) and is an interesting piece of architecture in itself, designed by Alex Clive. Tinsmiths is well worth a visit, even if just to see how stainless steel and glass has been used to echo the surrounding ramshackle timber frame buildings.
FABRICS & LIGHTING
What do they sell? Everything that is useful and stylish, it seems. Tinsmiths are fabric experts, in fact this is owner Phoebe Clive's personal passion (closely followed by lighting). The shop stocks natural fabrics on the roll, offering a wide range of striped cloth, linens, upholstery cloth and tickings, for which free samples are available. Their sewing room produces hand-sewn, made to measure curtains, roman and roller blinds for customers near and far. The selection of lighting for inside and out is terrific; you will find lighting for bathrooms, dining rooms and kitchens, external lights, wall lights, spotlights and table lights, all bearing the stamp of style that is Tinsmiths' speciality.
ART & MORE
You will also find some wonderful limited edition art prints and all manner of quirky home accessories. Cushions, blankets, clocks, books, rugs - this is an absolute emporium of delights. Tinsmiths only makes and sells things that don't have a shelf-life; love them now and you will love them forever.
The Tinsmiths Blog will keep you posted on design and local news, giving you the heads-up on things to do and see in and around Herefordshire.
