Customs Guide - United Kingdom
This is the most straightforward and condensed of various sites advising about the regulations for moving antiques between countries.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Four columns are headed Goods, Documents Required, Customs Prescriptions and Remarks. Move well down the page to where the Goods column is headed 'Works of Art, Antiquities.' For Customs purposes, anything over 100 years old comes under this heading. The Remarks column explains that objects imported into the UK for resale are treated as commercial imports and are therefore dutiable and/or subject to VAT. Articles forming part of a household removal, or bought for personal use and certified as being over 100 years old, are not.

COMMENTS
A good website for demystifying the question of what is, and is not, dutiable when imported from abroad.
