This is a large but uncomplicated website, calling itself 'the independent connection to the world's auction houses' and, founded in 1994, claiming to be the first site of its kind. A box at the top right of the homepage gives the figures for the number of items, and auction houses represented on the site each day.

The coloured buttons along the top of the page lead to Auction House Sales, Dealers & Galleries, Online Auctions, Library and Channels. If you want to buy and sell online, you'll need to submit your details, via the Register link. At Auction House Sales you can choose to view events either by the name of the auction house or by category of sale. The complete list is viewed by scrolling down the page and each sale links to a page giving further details. If absentee bidding is possible it is made evident under the auction house name.

SPECIAL FEATURE

Dealers & Galleries offers the opportunity to buy works of art, antiques or collectables at fixed prices, from businesses worldwide. Online Auctions is what you would expect, though the number of items for sale is relatively small. Library contains a short list of articles by experts.
