Flax & Finch

A rich source for craft-focused gifts and homeware, Flax & Finch helps to promote the work of new British talent, giving young designers artists and makers the chance to showcase their work and turn their talent into a successful online enterprise.

TRADITIONAL SKILLS

Launched by Debi Hanley, Flax & Finch aims to keep rural crafts alive by working with producers to utilise traditional skills in the production of modern-day products. Products listed on Flax & Finch reflect this interest in their high quality of workmanship and materials. The site features items to wear, things for the home, stuff for children, garden pieces and unique finds such as a Blickling Bowl, made from the wood of an English ash tree struck by lightening on the Blickling estate in Norfolk; or the tactile Pebble cushions, individually created and hand-dyed by designer, Justine.

Other items of to watch out for are: the ‘by the sea' fabric appliqué doorstops, created by Jane & Lucy; the peg bags in New England green ticking; and the beautiful hand-thrown, hand-painted ceramic crab bowl, made in red earthenware and decorated with white clay.

DESIGNERS & CRAFTSPEOPLE

Although the collection is quite small at the moment, new products are arriving on the site all the time. Flax & Finch is a new company and the items that do feature on the site are a good sign of things to come. Don't miss the section on the designers, which gives an interesting personal background to the artists and makers whose work is featured on the site.
