The Daguerreian Society

http://www.daguerre.org/

This website is information-packed, covering everything from the history and development of the daguerrotype process to the now highly collectable product.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Texts (in the Resources section) leads to a list of nearly a hundred articles, divided under a dozen headings. There are many joys here, including, under Reminiscences, an entertaining account by M.P. Simons of how he unexpectedly managed to get 'An Exquisite Picture' of a cantankerous small child. Other features accessed from this excellent section include Bibliography and A Thumbnail History of the Daguerrotype, reminding us that the process was launched on the world as early as 1839.

Further features investigate the process and the manufacture of daguerrian supplies, while anecdotes from various sources are numerous.

It would be hard to see how this website could in any way be improved.
