Latitude International, a Californian company, is in the business of promoting the appreciation of folk art and craft throughout the Americas. It's a commercial operation, certainly, and UK-based collectors would find purchasing from the USA and importing items expensive, but the website is so thorough and informative that it earns its place here regardless.

SPECIAL FEATURES

The homepage menu is lengthy, with a list of forty countries all over the world to choose from, and a list nearly twice as long of categories, including Baskets, Quilts and Furniture among many others. It is basically a showcase for the dealers concerned, but simply by viewing the artefacts one can learn a lot and many links contain information as well as pictures.

Especially informative is the online Art & Culture Newsletter, available from a link at the top right of the homepage. It has been updated for over four years, but the editions you can get free online are still helpful. Meanwhile at the bottom of the homepage, one can find links to Private Art Collections, Links to Museums and Folktales.

A fascinating website with extraordinary breadth.
