The British Horological Institute

http://www.bhi.co.uk/

The British Horological Institute's homepage offers Site Index as one of its many starting points. If you click here and scroll right to the bottom of the resulting page, you will immediately get an idea of the almost daunting amount of information here.

SPECIAL FEATURES

This is an amazingly detailed and valuable website, as you will discover as soon as you start exploring. The General link in the left margin introduces you to some of the functions of the Institute, with About the BHI (founded in 1858) as a good starting point. Now, returning to the homepage, try Technical for some thoroughly practical information about clocks and clock care. In this area, Hints & Tips is apparently the link most visited.

Other Sites takes you to a list you could spend days exploring! It includes links to the BWCCA (British Watch and Clock Collectors Association), a list of well over forty non-commercial links, and somewhere in the region of a hundred commercial ones. It ends with Mailing Lists & Discussion Groups.

This website demonstrates how extraordinarily rich the internet can be as a source of information - but don't let's forget that any website of this sort only exists because some intelligent person has spent a great deal of time assembling and marshalling that information.
