Sealing the Deal in Four Rooms
The team at Talkback Thames, producers of Grand Designs and The Apprentice, are turning their attention to antiques and design. In March 2011 a new eight part show called Four Rooms will launch. The hook of the show is that members of the public will attempt to sell their objects to one of four top UK dealers on the show who are secreted in four separate rooms. The seller must accept the offer from the first dealer or gamble on one of the next three offers, which expire when the seller leaves each room.
WHO'S WHO
The panel of dealers, chosen for their expertise in the field of contemporary and antique eclectic objects and design, are Jeff Salmon, owner of Decoratum at Alfie's Antiques, Andrew Lamberty of Lamberty on Pimlico Road, Emma Hawkins with a shop in Edinburgh and Dover Street Market, and Gordon Watson also from Pimlico Road.
Faced with the herculean task of sourcing ninety-five rare and wonderful objects valued at anywhere between £5000 to infinity, with owners keen not only to sell but to appear on the show, is Christophe Edwards of Core One Antiques at the Gasworks in Fulham.
BEHIND THE SCENES
Working behind the scenes on this occasion, Christophe is no stranger to television, having appeared not only on other antiques programmes but in his other guise as a psychotherapist - a direction he took during a ten year sabbatical from the antiques trade. Christophe's brief from Talkback Thames is to locate items to pique the interest of the four members of the panel, objects with a history, a shocking past, a fantastic story or simply visually fascinating. The items can be anything from pop memorabilia to a rare work of art, sculpture or a highly contemporary objet d'art.
If you are interested in taking part and have an object which you feel meets the criteria and which you can bear to part with for the right price, contact Christophe Edwards via Core One Antiques.
