Plants for a Future

This site declares itself ‘a resource and information centre for edible and other useful plants' and contains a massive amount of information with an emphasis on ecologically sustainable gardening. The text-heavy style requires concentration, although the recently improved design now works better. It is best to work from the Site Contents tab on the right of the page.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Database of useful, edible or medicinal plants is searchable, using different characteristics, for example use, name, genus, habitat. There are over 7000 entries with helpful information including uses and cultivation.

Leaflets are available to read online on a multitude of subjects: Plants for a Future itself, its history, community, services, and how to get involved; Plant Use, both edible and non-edible, vegan-organics and conservation gardening; Plants for particular habitats, for example ground cover, the urban garden, and problem places; Interesting and particularly useful plants, especially edible perennials. There's also a list of useful links to other sites and suppliers.
