Garden Guides in the Kitchen
This excellent section of the Garden Guides site is chock-full of recipes, tips, and ideas for gardener-cooks. Main contributor Leigh Abernathy is an enthusiastic gardener and cook, and you can browse several of her recipes and articles.
Seasonal recipes are highlighted on the home page, and in October there were ideas for using apples, pumpkins, and rosemary, with recipes for apple bread pudding, maple pumpkin cheesecake, and rosemary roasted potatoes. There are a number of excerpts and recipes from featured cookbooks, and you can sign up for the Cookbook Club newsletter which will email you a weekly selection of recipes from reviewed cookbooks.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Features and Articles can be on the left-hand side of the page. Many feature a particular herb, fruit, or vegetable, giving gardening tips and recipes. An article on mint, for example, gave hints on ways to control its rampant growth, with recipes for mint and citrus cooler, and cucumber mint salad.
Recipe Database can be found at the top of the page, and you can choose from categories such as main dishes, salads, breads, and vegetables. Recipes are occasionally borrowed from other sites and are always good value.
