Timeless Roses

A useful resource for the keen rose-grower, which contains a good-sized compendium of information about different aspects of rose-growing and detailed listings of individual roses. Overall, the site is nicely designed but the animated banner ads are diverting. Links are not always obvious or reliable and you may need to navigate using your browser.

At the time of writing this review, an additional site, www.gardenwithus.com, was planned, to cover perennials in the same way.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Search for Roses allows you to search the site by individual rose names or by using keywords such as pruning, fragrance or colour.

Glossary has a helpful list of terms covering everything from 'arching shrub' to 'sucker'.

There are a number of articles archived under various headings. Features covers general topics such as unusual colours and the history of roses, Caring For Your Roses explains how to feed your roses and deal with pests and disease and Fragrance attempts to uncover the nature of fragrance and also lists the best choices.

Roses by Class lists all types of roses and Roses for Beginners lists easy-care varieties. Both lists give a full and useful description of each rose, including class, introduction and parentage, flower, size and fragrance, with additional comment on growth, cultivation and any further information of interest.
