Moosey's Country Garden

Don't be put off by the name; this is a fascinating insight into a family garden in Christchurch, New Zealand, where everyone has family nicknames. The site is extremely well-designed and it's easy to get around by using the homepage 'keyboard'. The only problem is with the volume of information: the site is huge, and it's sometimes possible to feel a little swamped.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Tour of the two-acre garden contains many photos and plenty of accompanying text. The style is warm and personal, with more than a hint of self-deprecation. With well over 100 photos, though, it can become a bit like sitting through someone's holiday snaps…

Diary is the best way to appreciate the garden. Accompanied by more photos, it's an absorbing and entertaining read, and makes frequent digressions into family life, such as 'youngest son cut off his dreadlocks. He has put them in a shoebox'; as well as the more obvious horticultural observations.

OTHER FEATURES

The numerous other features incude Moosey's top ten native plants, self-seeders, and roses, and information on the garden's paths, seats, bridges, water features and pets.
