Teodosia Lloyd, fashion designer and co-founder of boutique, Dolly Lloyd, gives us an insight into her life online.
Teodosia Lloyd is the designer behind a new luxury fashion label and co-founder of Dolly Lloyd, a boutique on Fulham Road, which opened in November 2015. Her business partner and husband is David Lloyd, founder and Executive Director of the David Lloyd Leisure Group. The boutique showcases a range of exclusive high end brands including Teodosia's own collection.
Moldavian born, Teodosia discovered her flair for fashion when she was six years old. Taking inspiration from a sewing machine, given to her as a gift by her grandmother, Teodosia decided to fully immerse herself in the industry and went on to study fashion at Northumbria University. She then continued honing her creative skills by working in a luxury boutique in North London as the main buyer, merchandiser and manageress. Teodosia believes that ‘Fashion has no limits, if there isn’t a way, then you must create one.’ This philosophy has been incorporated into her debut collection, driving the brand forward and inspiring her work every day.
Having gained extensive knowledge of the fashion industry and a deep passion for design and luxury, Teodosia decided to create her eponymous label, Teodosia Lloyd. The brand offers luxury womenswear fashion, shoes and accessories, and targets ambitious and fashion conscious women, taking its inspiration from architecture to create a strong structured look with a modern twist. The ready-to-wear collection offers comfort, high quality, an excellent finish and exceptional value and includes a selection of beautiful trousers, blouses, shoes and dresses.
My Favourite Website... Pinterest - I love browsing Pinterest during my lunch break as it’s perfect for getting inspiration when I’m designing. For example, when looking for ideas for my Autumn Winter 2015 collection, I came across a range of beautiful architectural images which helped move my designs to the next level.
My Favourite App... Shopicks - This app lets you browse all your favourite online stores and create shopping lists. So, say if you were searching for that perfect little black dress, you could create a wish list of options from different shops and compare them in one place. You also get a notification when an items is on sale which is an added bonus!
My Favourite Blog... Olivia Palermo - Olivia is my muse for the Teo Lloyd collection and I love keeping up-to-date with all her fashion and beauty secrets!
My Most Recent Buy Online... a coat - I recently purchased the beautiful ‘Julia Coat’ from Monica Ricci, I buy in the brand for my boutique Dolly Lloyd and just had to have this piece for myself too!
Book I've Just Downloaded... #GirlBoss, by Sophia Amoruso - Sophia, the founder of online fashion site, Nasty Gal, is an inspiration to me. She set up her fashion business from nothing, and it is now one of the most successful online women’s fashion retailers in the world.
My Favourite Tweeter... @BritishVogue – Vogue is possibly the most famous fashion magazine in the world so I love checking its Twitter feed for fashion news, the latest trends and new designers to watch out for!
My Favourite Instagrammer... @rosielondoner – I love Rosie’s blog, The Londoner. She takes amazing photos of the finer things in life, from fashion, to travel, to food. I also love that her blog is London-centric, as my store Dolly Lloyd is based on Fulham Road and London is a huge part of my life.
My Pet Hate About Life Online... Sometimes it’s difficult to switch off from life online – particularly when running a fashion brand and you need to be up-to-date with all the latest trends and looks! However, my sons, Dennis and Chris are my priority so I make sure I switch off at the end of the day to spend quality time with them.
Social Media Allowed Me to Meet... I have been contacted by a well-known LA producer, to create a reality TV show with the brand and the boutique. He found us through social media.
My Stand Out Online Memory... - It has to be when I launched the Dolly Lloyd London boutique and my brand Teo Lloyd last year. The store opening was attended by a range of celebrities and press and seeing the buzz online surrounding the event was incredible.
Most Worthwhile Newsletter Subscribed To... Emerald Street - I love receiving this newsletter, because as well as fashion, it also includes a range of other features for me to read. I particularly like that they send restaurants to visit as I’m always looking for new places to dine out with my husband David!
iPhone or Android - iPhone. I love the classy elegant design and the large screen makes it perfect for taking photos!
