Nick Hungerford of Nutmeg, the intelligent online investment management service, shares some favourite sites.

Nutmeg is the UK’s first online discretionary wealth manager and now the fastest growing investment management business in the UK. He is a non-executive Director at Innovate Finance, a member of the European Digital Financial Services 'Power 50', and has been a guest lecturer at a range of academic institutions, including Harvard and the London Business School. GWG WEBSITE OF THE YEAR 2014
On Monday 17th November, Xenios Thrasyvoulou of PeoplePerHour presented Steve Desmond and John Carroll of Nutmeg with the prestigious award, The GWG Website of the Year. Nick Hungerford commented, "It’s wonderful to be recognised for all the hard work you put in, but especially so when it’s an award that spans all categories and genres, not just the finance industry, like The Good Web Guide Website of the Year Award. It's an honour to be the 2014 winner and a fantastic achievement by my diligent and creative team at Nutmeg who constantly push the boundaries to deliver a world-class customer experience and bring innovative new ideas to the fore."
NICK'S FAVOURITE SITES
Black Tomato - I can get lost in this site, just dreaming about dreamy holidays. It’s got a smart design with some great content throughout and they use excellent categorisation and navigation, which get you into the guts of the site quickly and easily.
NewsNow - I’m a big sports fan. In football, I follow Tottenham Hotspur, for my sins, and my old local team, Bath, when it comes to rugby. NewsNow is a brilliant site for helping me keep tabs on both. What it lacks in pizazz and visual adornments, it more than makes up for in immediacy, efficiency and relevance of content.
CNBC - I almost went for Bloomberg here but plumped for CNBC in the end. Both are fantastic heavyweight sources of information. I feel completely on top of the markets and the world of economics while I’m on either of these sites. CNBC edges it because I like its depth and breadth of content and its clean style.
Gmail - Simply so much better than Office ever was. It’s been a breath of fresh air. I just love that it feels intuitive for me and connects so many different things that I want to do under the one hood.
TripAdvisor - I’m a huge fan of community-driven sites. I think investment management can learn a lot by harnessing the power of community and it will be a key driver for developing innovative financial services in the future. TripAdvisor is one of my favourites for community content because it’s got great navigation and search, and an easy design and feel for a product with such a high volume of content and data behind it.
YourWealth - I have to pick one financial services site and it would be too obvious to go for Nutmeg, so I’d probably highlight YourWeath, or a similar site in the US, SmartAsset. Both tackle the thorny issues of personal finance in a simple and refreshing way. They have a good, clear service proposition, which is essential in any financial or technical field, and they back it up with engaging, relevant content and useful tools.
And my favourite app... Twitter - It’s been such a global game-changer, you simply can’t ignore it. The simplicity and ingenuity of Twitter genuinely gave a new wave of fresh impetus to the digital landscape. It’s so exciting to see a business or app come along that makes everyone pause and re-think what they’re doing. Twitter has paved the way for countless other businesses and I have no doubt we’ll continue to see, for some years to come, a raft of new sites and apps taking the Twitter ideology and amplifying it.
