Sainsbury's
Dressed in its familiar orange and white this website is simple to use and entertaining to boot. Check out food ideas for instance, which offers recipe ideas, information on healthy living and tips on exotic foods or drinks guide which gives tips on seasonal drinks and good buys. Special features whiz around on the site itself too, lending movement and colour to the page. At the time of writing a Get Fruity section on fruit cocktails was highlighted by way of a fruity drink suddenly appearing on screen.
The main feature of the site, of course, is the online shopping section. Easy to use and extraordinarily well-stocked, the shopping section even has an options to browse through special product ranges like Sainsbury's Taste the Difference and Be Good to Yourself ranges. All products are divided into a number of categories and subcategories in order that you can quickly find what you are looking for, and a search box makes looking for that rare product just a little faster. Clicking on ‘add' adds a product to your shopping basket and when you're done you can march off to the virtual check out and buy your shopping via your debit or credit card.
With all online shopping facilities there are a number of drawbacks, of course, which mean that online shopping is not precisely the same as grabbing whatever you want off the shelves and putting it into your trolley. Firstly, you need to check whether you live in a postcode to which Sainsbury's will deliver your shopping. There is no information under the FAQ as to which postcodes the supermarket does not deliver too, but a postcode check facility allows you to quickly see if you're in range, as it were. One should also note that there is a delivery charge of up to £6 and that you must order over £24.99 worth of goods for an order to be successful. These limits are fairly standard for online supermarket facilities though, and should not put one off a useful and well-stocked online store.
