Beyond Baked Beans

This website has grown out of the book, Beyond Baked Beans, written by Fiona Beckett to enrich impoverished students' wellbeing by eating properly. It is possible to eat well on a budget and this site tells you how. Not just confined to food, the section on booze has great ideas for cold winter nights. Check out the mulled cider. It's delicious.

The monthly recipes will bring some variation into the baked beans repertoire. The recipes are dead simple but tasty and the pricing should help with budgeting. Guest recipes include offerings from Jill Dupleix, Nigel Slater and Ken Hom. Seasonal feasts add to the collection.

You can buy the much praised book through a link to Amazon, the cost of which borne over three years is a small investment. And there are money saving ideas contained within too.

Beyond Baked Beans are looking for students to test recipes and report back on money saving bargains. They can't offer money, but who cares? Interaction is what it's all about. There are competitions to prove that it is not all one sided.

The site was launched in October 2003 and it will get bigger and better.
