Food from Britain

The government-backed organisation Food from Britain is supporting small speciality food producers with a shopping mall. The site is relatively easy to use and contains an excellent selection of high-quality products. Featured companies include Denhay (traditional cheddar, ham and bacon), Sussex High Weald (organic sheep's milk and cow's milk cheeses), Les Fines Herbes (vinegars and condiments), Prospero (posh desserts), Twineham Grange (English Parmesan), plus smoked foods from Bleiker's Smokehouse, and Brian Wogan's exclusive ground coffees. The only problem is that each shopfront is just that - a seperate business, so there are no advantages in terms of delivery in buying from several companies. You pay each company seperately, and wait at home for seperate orders to arrive.

Nevertheless, it's a good choice for gourmet gift shopping when you want to give something small, rare and original.
