British Cheese Board
The British Cheese Board is the voice of British cheese and is dedicated to educating the public about the nutritional and health benefits of eating cheese as part of a balanced diet.
A curious mix of small artisan producers and mass market manufacturers, this site aims to speak to its members as well as the general public.
One aim, it states, is to convince people that British Cheddar is best (as it should be) - and yet it still allows a factory producer to list Monterey Jack (which was invented in America) as a British cheese. The recipes are good, though.
This is a nicely put together site. featuring information on various cheeses, recipes and a number of education packs for school teachers on the benefits of cheese.
So what makes cheese so good for us? The British Cheese Board notes the following:
* It is one of nature's most complete foods
* It contains essential nutrients - protein, vitamins, calcium and other minerals
* It is a natural food source
* It is versatile
The British Cheese Board was formed in 1995 and its members account for a significant proportion of British Cheese producers in the UK. Subscriptions are match funded by the Milk Development Council.
